Are you concerned about the affordable housing crisis and interested in joining a group who are doing something about this in West Somerset?
West Somerset Community Land Trust (WSCLT) is looking for a Treasurer to the Board of Trustees and as many members / active volunteers as possible.
We are a non-profit Community Benefit Society and are registered with the FCA. Our aim is to provide low cost, sustainable, secure homes to residents of West Somerset who can-not access housing through traditional means.
WSCLT is a member of the National Community Land Trust Network (NCLTN), an active and supportive organisation. We receive funding from the NCLTN, the Somerset Community Foundation and the government Community Led Housing Fund via West Somerset District Council. Funding for construction or refurbishment of existing buildings is now available so we are moving into a new and very practical phase of our development.
West Somerset needs affordable homes and you can be part of the solution.
West Somerset Community Land Trust (WSCLT) is a Housing Trust created by local volunteers who really care about the social impact that the lack of truly ‘affordable’ housing is having in West Somerset.
WSCLT will provide genuinely low cost housing for people who live in the District of West Somerset by building or refurbishing a supply of high standard, eco sustainable homes, to Passif ™ Standard or similar which will be appropriate to the area and in which the local community will maintain a PERMANENT stake.
We plan to demonstrate that truly affordable housing is possible in West Somerset at competitive cost, and by using natural materials where possible at economically viable cost.
Own vehicle or access to a vehicle.
Must live within reasonable travelling distance of west Somerset.
West Somerset Community Land Trust (WSCLT) is looking for active volunteers as members and for a Treasurer to the Board of Trustees.

The WSCLT Board wishes to recruit a Treasurer to assist both with both book keeping and the longer term financial planning and management of our work. Funds to pay for the preparation and audit of end of year accounts are in place for the next two years and additional support for external financial management will be included in any bids made for construction funding in the future.
The board meets around 4 times a year. Members meetings are held twice a year.
We have a number of sub-groups: Policy and Administration, Funding, Community engagement, Potential sites and Sustainable Construction and Innovation - to manage funding and other issues.
